Soon and very soon the rhythm of a new semester will be here! In these last precious weeks of summertime, my excitement is building for move in weekend, meeting new students at the Faith Development Organization Fair and Bruinklink Fair (mark your calendars for Thurs. August 22nd), and starting weekly worship on Tuesdays at 7pm in the University Ministry space. In just two weeks time, the classrooms on campus will again be full, contagious laughter will echo through Beaman, and the sidewalks will be well put to use with students back and forth from dorm to classroom to gym to food and back again.
As a campus minister, this is one of the oddest times of the entire year! There can be so much to do picking scripture themes, preparing flyers, filling out forms, editing calendars, and sending way too many emails (and nobody’s hardly even on campus). But soon and very soon that preparation will turn into relationships with new students, deeper mentoring with familiar faces, more opportunities to offer Christ to a hurting world here in Nashville, and time to worship Christ with passionate young adults. I’m almost ready for the coming whirlwind of move-in and orientation! I pray that preparations for a new year of university life are well underway in your life.
I and the student leaders of Belmont Wesley Fellowship extend a deep invitation to you to join us for worship, community, and Christian service. Come be with us for worship on Tuesday August 27th@7pm in University Ministries (and every Tuesday). Come and meet us at the Bruinlink Fair on Thursday August 22nd. Come break bread with us on Friday August 23 in the Dining Hall (and every Friday).
And if youre a musician/vocalist, or your roommate/best friend is a musician, we want to connect and use their gifts for the glory of God. Shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you know somebody who has these gifts.
